A group of artists and designers are calling on New York’s subway system to stop selling “lost art” on subway platforms and instead, create a dedicated section dedicated to the stationery industry.
A statement from the artists and designer group says that “the subway system is a lost art.
It is a source of pride, a source to keep artists busy and creative, and a place to explore and share their work.”
In their statement, the group points to the “discovery and celebration of lost art” as a source for inspiration for their group.
They said the city’s subway is home to “many of the best artists and makers of stationery, and the subway itself has become a vibrant hub for the creative process and an integral part of our lives.”
New York City’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority says it’s reviewing the statement and is in discussions with the artists.
